How to Store Figurines for a Season
Seasonal storage should protect a figurine from movement, pressure and unsuitable conditions.

Seasonal storage should protect a figurine from movement, pressure and unsuitable conditions. Treat it as a planned display break rather than dropping it into a box of decorations.
Record the object before packing
Take a clear photograph and note any removable accessories or existing marks. Keep the figure's care instructions with your collection record so they are available when you unpack it months later.
Dust gently using the maker's recommended method. Do not seal away a damp object after cleaning or assume an unknown finish tolerates a household cleaner.
Use suitable individual support
Original fitted packaging can be useful if it remains intact. Otherwise choose clean compatible packing that supports robust areas without pressing on thin details.
Keep figures separated so bases and accessories cannot strike one another. Label small removable pieces and avoid adhesive tape directly on the object's surface.

Choose the storage location carefully
Follow the maker's environmental guidance. A hot attic, damp basement or frequently changing garage may be unsuitable even if the box is sturdy.
Place the box where it cannot be crushed by heavier items or casually opened by someone unaware of fragile contents. A clear label helps identify the object and its correct orientation without repeated unpacking.
Make return-to-display easy
Keep a simple list of what is stored and where. If a seasonal arrangement has several components, include a photograph showing how they belong together.
When the season returns, open the box on a stable surface and inspect the figure before arranging it. Do not pull it out by the head or first visible accessory.
Our packing guide explains support and movement control in more detail. Good storage is not about adding the most wrapping; it is about preventing the actual shape from shifting or being loaded in the wrong places while it waits to be enjoyed again.
