Pet Memorial Figurine: Which Photos to Send

· VoxelPals Studio

Short answer: For a pet memorial figurine, send one clear, naturally lit photo of your pet's face plus a side or full-body view that shows their coat colours, markings, ears and tail. Pick the photo whose pose you want to keep, because our 3D pet figures copy the pose in the photo you choose and are made in one piece. Dogs can be made at 6, 8 or 10 cm and cats at 6 or 8 cm in hand-sculpted polymer clay, or you can choose a brick figure.

Which photos to send

One clear reference is a good place to start, and a few extra views make a real difference with pets: the breed gives us the silhouette, but the ears, the coat pattern and where the patches fall are what make it your animal. Phone photos are fine.

  • The face: a clear, naturally lit portrait with the expression you want to keep. Avoid strong filters and heavy shadows.
  • A side view: it shows the coat colours, the markings and the shape of the coat.
  • The full body: include the chest, sides and tail where possible, and point out any distinctive patches.
  • The details you love: the tilt of the head, the patch above an eye, a favourite collar. Share a collar detail if you would like it considered.

You can upload up to 10 photos on the product page (JPG, PNG or WebP, 12 MB each), send extras by replying to your order confirmation, or email them to hello@voxelpals.com.

If you only have older or imperfect photos

Send what you have and tell us about the colours; we will ask questions before we guess. If we cannot get a confident likeness from a photo, we tell you honestly before anything is built.

Choosing the pose

For 3D pet figures, we copy the pose in the photo you choose. If the tail is tucked in or the head is tilted in that photo, that is how the figure is made. If you would like a different pose, for example with the tail showing or the head facing straight ahead, tell us after you order and we will confirm it with you before we start.

Pet figures are made in one piece, so once the figure is finished only small detail touch-ups are possible. That is why it is worth settling the pose, the head position and the details you want to keep before sculpting begins: use the design notes to tell us which markings and posture you want to preserve. Pet-only figures are made as standard figures, not bobbleheads.

Which size

  • Dogs: 6, 8 or 10 cm (about 2.5, 3 or 4 in).
  • Cats: 6 or 8 cm (about 2.5 or 3 in).

10 cm is the usual gift size and the one most people choose; 8 cm is a little smaller and fits easily on a desk or windowsill. Sizes are the height of the finished figure, and we confirm the complete footprint, including the base, in your proof. Larger sizes, for example 35 cm, can be made as a custom order. On the US store, a 3D pet memorial figurine starts at $94 (6 or 8 cm) and $99 at 10 cm; in other countries, prices are shown in local currency where we offer it.

Getting the colours right

Colours come from your photos, so the light matters more than the camera. Even daylight, next to a window or outside in the shade, shows the true coat colour, while strong filters and light from behind hide it. In the design notes, list the colours, patches and ear shape you do not want us to miss. On a 3D figure the body is sculpted by hand in polymer clay and baked, and the markings are painted on by hand, so a patch can sit where it actually sits. On a brick figure, brick shapes and colours are confirmed in your digital proof.

3D or brick for a pet memorial

Dogs and cats are the most common. For other animals, ask us before ordering.

What happens after you order

For a 3D pet figure, you see photos before it ships, and you can cancel for a full refund before the sculptor starts; once sculpting has begun, it can't be refunded for a change of mind. For a brick figure, we send a digital proof first and nothing is built until you approve it. Shipping is free and most US orders arrive 20–25 days after we have your photo. If you need it by a particular date, contact us before ordering so we can check the schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make a pet memorial figurine from just one photo?

Yes, one clear photo is a good place to start. A clear face photo plus a side view helps us capture the ears, coat colours and markings, and you can explain the rest in your design notes.

Can you change my pet's pose from the photo?

We copy the pose in the photo you choose. If you would like a different pose, for example with the tail showing or the head facing straight ahead, tell us after you order and we will confirm it with you before we start. Pet figures are made in one piece, so once finished only small detail touch-ups are possible.

What sizes are the pet figurines?

3D dog figures are made at 6, 8 or 10 cm (about 2.5, 3 or 4 in) and cat figures at 6 or 8 cm (about 2.5 or 3 in). 10 cm is the usual gift size. Larger sizes can be made as a custom order.

Can I be in the figure with my pet?

Yes. The Pet Memorial Brick Figure puts you, or two people, and your pet on one base, and the 3D You & Your Pet design sculpts you and your pet together.

Do you make animals other than dogs and cats?

Dogs and cats are the most common. For other animals, ask us before ordering.
