How to Keep Dust Out of Light-Colored Clay
Light-colored clay makes stray fibers and dark crumbs easy to see, and the most effective cleanup happens before the face or dress is finished. Organize the workspace so contamination is less likely to reach it in the first place.

Reset the surface between colors
Remove previous scraps from the tile, roller and tool grooves. Inspect the underside of containers and the edge of your mat, where small dark fragments can hide. Clean with a method compatible with the tools and let the surface become ready for clay before beginning.
Working pale colors before dark ones can reduce transfers during a session. It does not remove the need to clean between incompatible materials or contaminated projects.
Notice clothing and handling
Keep loose sleeves and fuzzy cuffs away from the work. Wash and dry hands appropriately before switching from a dark color to a pale one. A frequently handled phone or dusty packaging can reintroduce debris immediately afterward.
Place tools on a clean tray rather than directly beside sanding waste, pencil shavings or a fabric towel.

Cover work during pauses
Use a clean cover that does not touch and emboss delicate details. Protect spare pale clay separately from a finished raw head. A general lid over a tray is useful only if the tray itself is clean.
Avoid blowing dust from the surface onto another project. Move the source of debris and reset the area instead.
Inspect before the final texture
Use soft side light and turn the tile to see raised fibers. Correct a contaminated surface while the design is still simple. If you repeatedly find the same type of speck, identify its source rather than spending the whole session picking individual pieces out.
Make one small cream test ball at the start of a session. If it becomes dirty after a few ordinary handling actions, the workspace needs attention before you sculpt a face. Combine this habit with compatible storage so yesterday's clean portions arrive at today's table in the same condition.
