The best retirement gift ideas recognize both the career someone is leaving and the life they’re looking forward to. A custom figurine can show a colleague in their familiar work outfit, a parent enjoying a favorite hobby, or a boss being thanked by the team.
Choose the part of their story you want to celebrate
Start with what makes the retiree recognizable to the people who know them. For a coworker, that might be their everyday work outfit and familiar posture. For a boss, a figure that reflects their profession can be a thoughtful thank-you from the whole team. For a parent, consider whether they would rather celebrate their career or their plans for retirement.
If you’re browsing retirement gifts for men, look beyond the category and focus on the individual. Golf, fishing, gardening, or travel can offer a more personal starting point than a generic retirement theme. Choose the activity they actually love, then decide which outfit and details best tell that story.
Six custom figurines to consider
These personalized retirement gifts are made to order from your photos. The starting prices below are for the “Figure only” packaging option; larger props and scenes are quoted separately before anything is charged.
- Custom Retirement Figurine — One Person — from $99. A starting point for a figure celebrating a colleague, boss, or parent at retirement.
- Custom Profession Figurine — Doctor, Nurse, Chef & More — from $99. Choose a work-focused design when their profession is central to the tribute.
- Custom Thank You Figurine — One Person — from $99. Consider this for a shared thank-you from colleagues.
- Custom Hobby Figurine — One Person — from $109. Explore a gardening or travel theme, with any larger scene details quoted separately.
- Golf day — from $109. A fitting choice for someone looking forward to more time on the course.
- The big catch — from $109. Choose a fishing theme for a retiree whose favorite plans involve the water.
Each figure is hand-sculpted in polymer clay, oven-baked, painted by hand, and set on a polished base. It’s a stylized interpretation of the photos, not a scan. Figures of people come in heights of 10, 14, or 18 cm.
Organize a group gift without losing the personal details
When choosing a retirement gift for a coworker, ask the team to agree on the main idea before ordering: a work outfit, a favorite hobby, or a thank-you for their career. Have one person collect the photos and coordinate the order so the outfit and pose instructions stay consistent.
Set the shared budget based on the figure’s size and any requested scene. Small handheld props, such as a book, cup, or ball, are free; bigger props and scenes cost extra and are quoted first. A separate team card can carry everyone’s messages while the figurine focuses on the retiree.
Only order a figure of someone who has agreed to have one made. If you’re planning a surprise presentation, get their consent beforehand.
Which photos should you send?
One clear photo of each face is enough to get started. A full-length photo helps show the outfit and posture, especially if you want a familiar uniform, golf clothes, or gardening outfit. Choose references that clearly show the details you want the sculptor to use.
You can upload up to 10 photos, each up to 12 MB, in JPG, PNG, or WebP format. You can also order first and email the photos to hello@voxelpals.com later. Our photo-to-figurine guide can help you prepare your references.
Plan backward from the farewell party
Most orders arrive 20–25 days after we receive your photo. Work backward from the farewell party date, and allow extra time rather than treating that window as an exact arrival date. If you send photos after ordering, account for that delay too.
The sculptor makes the head first, and we usually send photos of it within 3–4 days of receiving your photo. Once the head is right, the hair and body take about 8–12 days; we send photos of the finished figure before shipping.
Shipping is free and tracked, and US import duties are included in the price. Check the sizes, prices, and delivery guide while planning your order.
Questions about retirement gifts
What is a good retirement gift for a coworker?
A figurine in their work outfit can recognize the career you shared. Choose a hobby theme instead if you want to celebrate what comes next.
What should a team give a retiring boss?
A custom thank-you figurine can serve as the team’s shared gift. Agree on the design together and add individual messages in a separate card.
Can I order a retirement figurine of my mom or dad?
Yes, with their agreement. Send a clear face photo and an outfit reference, then choose a career or hobby theme that feels like them.
Can I choose a fixed head instead of a bobblehead?
Yes. For figures of people made from polymer clay, the default “Style” option is “Bobblehead”. Choose “Standard figure” under “Style” for a fixed head at the same price.
How far ahead should I order a retirement gift?
Plan around the usual 20–25 days from when we receive your photo to arrival, and allow extra time before the farewell party.
