A custom brick display figure may contain printed, painted, glued or otherwise fixed elements. Check its construction before applying cleaning advice intended for ordinary loose building blocks.
Identify the kind of display
Is the figure freestanding, attached to a base or mounted inside a frame with a printed photograph? Each part may have different care needs.
Ask the maker whether any components are removable. Do not disassemble a fixed portrait simply because its appearance resembles a construction toy you are used to taking apart.
Remove loose dust gently
Start with a very soft clean brush, supporting the base on a stable surface. Pay attention to hair sections, glasses and accessories where pressure could loosen a connection.
Avoid forceful air blasts or aggressive brushing around fragile details. If you discover a loose part, set it aside safely and ask how it should be reattached rather than improvising an adhesive.

Keep liquids away until confirmed
Printed photographs, labels, coatings and adhesives can react differently from plain plastic pieces. Do not immerse the assembled figure or use a dishwasher, household solvent or hot water as a default cleaning method.
Even LEGO's own cleaning guidance concerns its specified products. It should not be transferred automatically to a custom mixed-material display made by another company.
Care for the surrounding format
For a frame, clean the exterior according to its material and keep cleaning liquid from running into the display. For an enclosed case, remove the figure safely if the case instructions require separate cleaning.
Record any maker-approved method so future cleaning remains consistent. Our framed portrait guide also covers choosing a stable location.
A custom brick keepsake is easiest to maintain when dust is removed lightly and regularly. Treat stubborn stains and unknown finishes as questions to resolve, rather than reasons to try increasingly strong cleaners.
