What to send
- A clear, straight-on photo of each face. They do not have to be from the same day.
- The outfits you want, full length if possible: wedding clothes, the date-night dress or the hoodies you actually live in. If the wedding outfit is still a secret, describe it.
- A note on who is who, who is taller and how you usually stand together.
Upload your photos on the product page (up to 10 photos, 12 MB each), or order first and reply to your confirmation email with a separate shot of each person; we wait for them before we start.
Poses and outfits
A pair can be posed a dozen ways, and only one of them looks like the two of you. Each face is matched on its own first, then the pair: the height difference, how close you stand, whether you touch at all and which outfit colours end up side by side. Shoulder to shoulder and a step apart read very differently, so describe the pose in your notes when you order, for example holding hands, an arm around a shoulder or leaning in. It does not have to be formal: casual clothes work as well as wedding outfits. Small handheld props such as a bouquet are free; arches, cakes, backgrounds and larger props are quoted separately.
Weddings, anniversaries and Valentine's Day
- Weddings: a cake topper moves from the cake to a shelf after the day. The figures are a keepsake, not food-safe, so stand the base on a small cake board or a piece of baking paper rather than directly on the icing. Four or six figures can include the parents.
- Anniversaries: the figure does not need to show wedding outfits; the day you met or a first date works too. For golden weddings and milestone years, see our retirement and anniversary gift guide.
- Valentine's Day: allow 20–25 days after we have your photos, plus time for any changes before you approve, and order early.
Keeping it a surprise is easy: the photos for your approval come to you, not to your partner. For a wedding or another fixed date, contact us before ordering so we can check the schedule.
How approval works
3D: both heads first, then the bodies
There is no digital design for clay figures. We sculpt both heads first and send you photos of them, usually within 3–4 days of receiving your photos. Once the heads are right, we make the hair and bodies and set the pair on its base, then send you photos of the finished figure before it ships. You can cancel for a full refund before the sculptor starts; once sculpting has begun, a clay figure can't be refunded for a change of mind.
Brick: a digital proof first
For brick couples we send a digital proof, a front-facing build image showing hair, outfits, colours and the spacing between you, usually within 2–3 days. Nothing is built until you approve it, and until then you can cancel for a 100% refund.
Either way, the figure is made over 8–12 days after your approval, shipping is free, and most US orders arrive 20–25 days after we have your photos.
